Australian business owner daily tasks
Business Owner is a complex role including multiple daily tasks! We normally plan ahead of the week or months activities, working late hours and open our laptops while trying to have a conversation with our partners, kids. Do you find yourself stuck while working on your Social Media posts? Are you struggling to juggle Zoom meetings and phone calls? Perhaps, you need to pick up children at 3 p.m. and your draft content still lying around at the desk and waiting to get done and dusted? Calm down, Australian business owner, we are in the same boat. 24 hours a day seems not enough, plus traffic time is not helping either. Statistics show that we, Australians, spend more than 90 minutes a day commuting (“Fact check: Do nine in 10 Australians spend more than 90 minutes a day commuting? – ABC News”), especially after Covid-19 we are experiencing the worst traffic situation ever! Do you feel swamped by the number of work tasks? Let me, just the ordinary blogger-writer, Anastasia, list a couple of basic pieces of advice on how can we, business owners, receive a little relief. Let’s get back to basics here…Australian business owner daily tasks
#1 Focus on what’s now
Instead of trying to do it all at once, maybe, ask yourself what is your actual priority right now? For example, you have a meeting at 9 a.m. and you also need to prepare social media content to submit around the same time. First of all, make sure you plan realistically and don’t overbook. Go to the meeting and make as many notes as you need. Remember, that social interaction can be more important than writing a content draft. Reschedule your Social Media post 1 hour later, give yourself space. Remember that quality is better than quantity. Quality content needs quality time too. Focus on presence, try to stay in the moment rather than get your mind “scheduling what’s next” while the current task is still going.
#2 Pencil in the Top 3 major tasks and let the rest to follow when you have a time gap in-between.
Make sure of 3 major tasks on your Samsung or iPhone Calendar booked in. Focus on 3 major tasks within the day. All other tasks can be worked through in-between. Say, your meeting is finished 10 min earlier? Take a break and call a friend you meant to call. Perhaps, you need a quick snack? Maybe you need to make doctor’s appointments? Use 10 min break for something you needed to do “in-between”. Move to your next major task when it’s due. Remember, keep your focus on what is now, not in 2-3 hours. Be present for every 3 tasks and go to “in-betweeners” when opportunities come along. It is the way to accomplish more rather than nervously looking into a phone and getting distracted and overwhelmed.
#3 Schedule posts for Instagram
The social media posts upload process can take ages! Implement software that helps to pre-schedule your posts. For example, Tailwind is free software that allows you to upload posts and pre-schedule them! Spend some time to think through your social media content ahead and free more space. Imagine, you open your Instagram and a new post is running daily for you. Don’t work harder- work smarter!
#4 Delegate some of your duties
Yes, I know a lot of business owners, trying to do it by yourself! Make sure you can allocate some of your tasks to a partner or co-worker. Running late from work and need some groceries? Text or call your partner to grab some from a nearby shop or a petrol station. Kids are due for a bath and you think that it’s a bonding time and you are still 40 min away? Well, give them a quick call and explain that sometimes you can’t be physically present but ensure that mummy or daddy is not too far off. If you have a task priority as of being at home around 6 p.m., delegate some admin work to your co-worker, staff member! Delegation is not a failure rather a smart way of managing your lifestyle.
#5 Utilise your Bluetooth in the car but keep it safe!
We can’t use the phone while driving! Safety comes first. However, if you are in a real traffic jam- utilise ‘’Mr. Bluetooth”. A hands-free call making process makes it accessible and easy. It allows you to reach out to people while you are on the way home or at work. Say, you have 1 hour in traffic. How many friends or other business owners, potential customers can you call? Remember to plan for it. Set up a HubSpot App on your phone that allows storing your contacts lists, so-called free CRM within hands-free reach.
Business owners, we all busy right now. Rather than trying to run a race on how many tasks you can complete a day, maybe focus on are 3 Top major tasks I need to complete and be proud of once it did! Stay focused, live to the fullest, breathe if something goes out of your control and prioritise. Quality is valued more than quantity.

Wow that’s awesome, very helpful article, thanks.
Thank you so much. Which advice do you like the most?
I think the days I manage my work the best are prioritizing what is truly important and keeping my list to three tasks. There is a difference between being busy for the sake of being busy versus being productive. These tips are excellent and a good reminder for the days when everything feels overwhelming. Thanks for the excellent content, as always!
yes! if you keep 3 tasks a day- it seems more achievable.!
