I met Christie in 2011 back to Adelaide, SA. While working together, my instincts were hinting “This girl is unusual, she has got something different, something unique”. At that time, it was a subjective judgement, but only just before Christie brought a professional Makeup kit and shared exciting news. Her passion belonged to Makeup artistry! Her confidence, youth and beauty set the sail into the right direction, and nothing was able to stop that “ship”.
The journey as a Makeup artist commenced at 18 years old when Christie was experimenting with different looks. Often passion leads to hopeless dreams. At times we want to pursue a business journey, but we fail to follow through. Whereas with Christie’s strong desire to succeed, she completed her Media Makeup studies eight years ago balanced with practical experience while working for Inglot Cosmetics where the possibilities were unlimited. Christie was learning to have fun with makeup, as Inglot is renowned for incorporating colour in their looks, learning to take risks and not being afraid of making mistakes. Her first owned product was mascara. Surely, lots of individuals on Planet Earth absolutely salute to this life-saver, black or brown or any coloured brush that transforms your look within seconds! It’s an analogy to you “drowning in the pool of today’s look ambiguity”, grab a mascara, and you are safe!
In 2013, Christie continued mastering her Makeup artist skills, and she commenced working with Mac Cosmetics, where she learned all about makeup trends and a strong focus on the art of application. By teaching customers’ needs and wants, Christie mastered interpreting desired looks. The expertise fell into place as Christie steadily builds a solid portfolio as an artist while working with brilliant and inspiring artists. By the way, as an artist, Christie needed inspiration. Among those were featured Makeup artists who inspired her: Lisa Eldridge, Rae Morris, Charlotte Tilbury & Val Garland.
Being on the Makeup Artist Journey with a genuine passion, skill and knowledge, the next step up occurred when Christie started freelancing in 2016 and then, CMC Makeup was born.
